Allspace history

Established in 1994, Allspace Limited has grown to become Ireland’s largest supplier for the hire of portable buildings and the sale of modular and relocatable buildings to the construction, business, leisure and public sectors.

The range of buildings we offer has grown over the years as the company has strengthened its position in the market. We offer high-quality portable building accommodation from Portakabin – one of Europe’s leading manufacturers of modular and relocatable buildings – supplying everything from single relocatable units to large-scale modular building complexes. We also offer high-security site accommodation from Thurston, the UK’s leading manufacturer of anti-vandal galvanite steel buildings, providing essential site accommodation for the construction industry.

Most recently, our association with specialist ground protection and temporary access systems supplier, Eve Trakway, has added a range of roadways and walkways to complement our buildings.

Our state-of-the-art headquarters in north Dublin features a display centre showcasing our products, as well as spacious refurbishment facilities, enabling us to maintain the highest standards in our fleet. In addition, we have branches in Cork and Galway, so that wherever you are in Ireland, there’s an Allspace branch not far away.

Relocatable buildings pioneer

As Allspace Limited is a wholly owned subsidiary of Portakabin Limited, the premier-quality buildings in our range are manufactured by Portakabin – the company that pioneered the concept of relocatable buildings in the 1960s. From its first design for a relocatable building, Portakabin has expanded to become a household name and Europe’s market-leading building manufacturer with a reputation for innovation. Its unrivalled range of all-steel products offers the highest quality working environments available for every end application.

Allspace and Portakabin history

1961 – Portakabin registered as a trademark and launches its original site accommodation building.

1965 – Portaloo launched – specialising in quality toilet and shower facilities.

1971 – Portakabin begins trading in the Netherlands.

1975 – Portakabin established in France.

1980 – Portakabin is awarded a BBA certificate for its Instant Building Module – the first to be awarded for a building module system.

1980 – Portakabin Group company Yorkon launched – specialising in the design and manufacture of innovative modular buildings.

1985 – Portakabin established in Belgium.

1991 – Portakabin and Yorkon achieve ISO 9001 quality management systems standard for their zero tolerance manufacturing processes and office procedures.

1994 – Allspace founded.

1996 – Allspace appointed as the Portakabin representative in Ireland. 

1997 – Allspace appointed as Thurston representative in Ireland.

2000 – Portakabin launches Titan – the largest single modular building available.

2002 – Portakabin launches Ultima – the best-performing office building for air leakage, as tested by the BRE.

2002 – Allspace opens new southern regional office in Cork.

2004 – Allspace opens new headquarters in Dublin.

2004 – Allspace appointed as Eve Trakway representative in Ireland.

2004 – Portakabin launches 5-year product and 20-year structural warranties on all products – the first and only modular manufacturer to have comprehensive warranty cover.

2004 – Yorkon becomes the first modular building manufacturer to achieve LPCB certification – ensuring minimal fire spread.

2005 – Allspace opens new western regional office in Galway.

2005 – Portakabin launches Titan Building System – the fast, cost-effective solution to quality space.

2005 – Portakabin launches Portaloo Junior – quality toilet facilities for key-stage 1 & 2 age children.

2005 – Yorkon launches whole-life costing – enabling a range of options to be evaluated over the life cycle of a builing.

2006 – Portakabin launches Ultima Vision and Portakabin Solus  – innovative products to improve staff productivity.

2006 – Allspace Limited becomes a wholly owned subsidiary of Portakabin Limited.
