Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann (the ‘All-Ireland Music Festival') is a major ten-day long annual event, bringing together all aspects of traditional Irish culture, including music, song and dance. There is fierce competition among towns in Ireland to host the event, which moves around the country each year. In 2010, Cavan Town won the right to host the event for the first time since 1954. Having never recently staged an event on this scale, the town's council needed to source all of the supporting infrastructure and facilities for the 300,000 visitors expected to attend the event.

Solution:
Alan Lyons, Cavan Town Engineer at Cavan Town Council, says: “Among the amenities we needed were high-quality toilet facilities for the large numbers of visitors and competitors who would be in the town for the event. We took advice from Tullamore Town Council, who had held the event before, and set up a tender process for potential suppliers. Portakabin Allspace was awarded the toilet supply contract because of the quality of the Portaloo toilets it offered, the competitive hire price and the service levels provided.”

The Portaloo facilities offered by Portakabin Allspace provide domestic-standard toilets and washbasins with hot and cold running water. The buildings are bright, robust and welcoming, with excellent ventilation and hygienic, easy-clean surfaces – essential for busy events.

Portakabin Allspace supplied ten toilet units for the Fleadh Cheoil in Cavan Town. The range of separate male and female units were located in key positions around the town, where they could easily be accessed by the maximum number of visitors and competitors.

Alan continues: “The buildings were all delivered on time and were sited quickly and efficiently by the Portakabin Allspace team. The quality of the facilities provided was very good and they performed well throughout the event. We were happy with the service from Portakabin Allspace, who responded promptly to any requests from us, kept us well informed and did everything they promised.”

Cavan Town Council made such a success of the 2010 event that they were appointed as hosts again for 2011, the festival's landmark 60th anniversary year.

Alan says: “We were hugely honoured to be asked to host the event again and we had no hesitation in going back to Portakabin Allspace for the event toilets. As well as providing all the town centre toilets to the Council, Portakabin Allspace supplied toilet and shower buildings for the campsites that were established for festival-goers at a rugby club and equestrian centre on the outskirts of the town.
